Menies Beach – Half day boat-trip

Join in and come aboard for a fun 4 hours trip including two stops for swimming and snorkeling, the utmost relaxation! Explore the natural beauty of the northernmost part of Crete away from mass tourism.

Leaving from the Port of Kolymbari, the tour will be heading up the coast along the Rodopou Peninsula towards Menies Beach. The scenery is beautiful, the sea amazing deep blue. You can dive off the top of the boat into the crystal clear waters. There is plenty of time for an enjoyable swim and to try snorkeling (equipment is provided for free). You will have time to explore the little beach of Menies, a majestic secluded beach with imposing rocks combined with the wild beauty of nature. Menies is located on the site of ancient Diktynna, which was the most important temple of the goddess Vritomartis. There are still a few remains of the ancient Roman temple as well as a very old abandoned monastery of St. George, built in the 9th century. After Menies the boat passes by a cave for a short photo stop and visit Chironisia Bay, a small hidden quiet bay accessible only by the sea with deep clear waters, full of small caves for another swimming and snorkeling opportunity!

Indicative timetable for morning and afternoon trip (the program may change sometimes, you will be informed by the guide):

Morning trip:

  • 09:00-10:00 Pick up from hotel-areas
  • 10:15 Boat-departure from Kolymbari harbor
  • 11:00 First swim stop: Menies Beach
  • 13:00 Short photo stop at Rodopos Cave
  • 13:20 Second swim stop: Chironisia Bay
  • 14:20 Return to Kolymbari Port
  • 14:30-15:30 Drop off at hotel areas

Afternoon trip:

  • 13:15-14:15 Pick up from hotel-areas
  • 14:30 Boat-departure from Kolymbari harbor
  • 15:15 First swim stop: Menies Beach
  • 17:15 Short photo stop at Rodopos Cave
  • 17:35 Second swim stop: Chironisia Bay
  • 18:30 Return to Kolymbari Port
  • 18:35-19:20 Drop off at hotel areas

Good to know:

  • Snorkeling equipment free to use.
  • Transfer to and from your hotel area is included.
  • Mini-bar (simple drinks and snacks) and toilet on board.
  • Changing room.
  • No meals included.

Today remember to bring: swim-wear, sun-protection, a cap, decent beach shoes.
