Knossos Palace & Wine tasting tour

Only few kilometers south of Heraklion, Knossos, the capital of King Minos and the center of the magnificent Minoan civilization, is located. The Palace will take us a step back in time some 4000 years, 2000 BC. The city of Knossos, famous throughout the world through the myths of Europa, the Minotaur, the Labyrinth and Theseus, Daedalus and Ikarus, will open us a window to the most ancient civilization of Europe. Knossos’ architectural feats include several story buildings (first in the world) with light wells and bathrooms, impressive pillars and an ingenuous drainage system, aqueducts, irrigation systems, paved roads and magnificent frescoes. Continuing our day tour we will visit the heart of Central Crete and specifically the enchanting valley of Peza, a rich Minoan land with
olive groves, grape vines and red soils. The drive is through pleasant landscape of countryside and vineyards as old as Minoan times. The region that looks bucolic with wild landscape serves as the perfect backdrop for wine tastings, as you sip wines and try flavored snacks, cheese and other gastronomic delicacies in the Cretan winery estate. We will visit modern winery, where you will see the updated methods of wine making and sample some of the delicious Cretan wines. The tour ends having you discovered so many experiences of myths, legends and tastes of Cretan indigenous varieties with divine aromas and flavors.
