Paleochora - Kantanos
Private Tour – Chania 3
Discover Paleochora, a beautiful small town by the sea at the southcoast of West Crete! With its laid-back atmosphere and natural beauty it has stolen the heart of many travelers. You will reach this small southern town of about 2000 inhabitants after a wonderful ride with impressive panoramic views and along small, traditional villages at the location of 75 kms from Chania. On the way down, at the historical “martyr” village of Kantanos, you will make a short stop to enjoy a Greek coffee at a local kafeneion or just to have a look around.
Palaiochora
Built on a small, narrow peninsula stretching into the Libyan Sea, Paleochora enjoys hot summers with pleasant breezes. At the scenic tip of the peninsula, the ruins of a 13th-century fortress, built by the Venetians in 1282, overlook the sea and town beneath. The cozy main street of Paleochora cuts the settlement in two. At the west side you find the popular, long and sandy beach Pachia Ammos with crystal clear water and some old tamarisk offering natural shade, well-organized with sunbeds and umbrellas. To the east side of the small town large stone blocks protect the shore and the seaside leads you to the smaller pebbly and gravel Votsalo beach. You will have plenty of time to stroll around the village and swim at the beach of your preference! Enjoy this pleasant destination!
